Moderator: Radmila Majhen Ujević

The Emergency Medicine Core Competence Course (EMCC) is intended for developing competencies in emergency medicine through intensive simulation workshops and group discussions. The author of the course is Dr. Eric Dyer, an emergency medicine specialist from Sweden. It is an advanced course, which represents an upgrade to standard ALS/ETC/APLS courses and is intended for emergency medicine specialists and emergency medicine residents who are in the second half of their specialization.

The course is supported by the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EUSEM), and it was held in Croatia for the first time from April 28-29, 2023 in Split.

The course covers initial care of critically ill patients, differential diagnostic approach and decision-making (probability assessment, Bayes’ theorem, threshold for testing, threshold for therapy), interpretation of 12-channel ECG and ABS, neurological assessment, and team leadership and communication skills.

In this pre-congress workshop, the participants have the opportunity to go through selected topics from emergency medicine with international and domestic instructors through active participation in several interactive scenarios and get an insight into the course itself.

The moderator of the EMCCC workshop is Dr Radmila Majhen Ujević.
